This is a
basic workshop in photography for both two dimensional and three dimensional
artists looking to use photography as a creative tool and as a means of
recording and documenting finished work and work in progress.
The term ‘Photography’
comes from the ancient Greek words, ‘Photos’ and ‘Graphos’ translated as ‘light
drawing’. The course teaches students how to take control of their camera to
achieve maximum control of light, essential for accurate documentation of
artistic work.
Students will
be encouraged to take full control of their cameras (as opposed to the camera
deciding for them), working with manual settings and selected focal lengths.
The course
will also demonstrate effective methods for setting up domestic situations
suitable for photographing visual art works of all descriptions to reasonably
high standards.
Students
should preferably own a SLR camera (a camera with interchangeable lenses), or a
range finder (live view) camera with a manual ‘M’ option.
